View from the gym this morning!
Having been to the gym we then spent 3 hours in the garden. Vitamin D topped up, fire had and lots of feel good things done. Fabulous way to spend the day with the wife.

Helen took to the stage today at SFN Expo in Glasgow. She presented a talk on mental health and the mental health qualification to a great crowd. She may have caught the bug, get in touch if you need a speaker!

A selection of happy places

These are some of my favourite things: walking in the forests, swimming and kayaking in the sea, drinking coffee with fantastic views.
Being able to spend this time with family makes it even more special.

Take some time away from everyday life to go and do the things you love. It is so important to help with staying happy and healthy.

Quality me-time spent with Duke and Baron, also known as the Kelpies (well they were the models). Magnificent, mind-blowing, breath-taking.
Beautiful day, the sun is warm, and I am so happy that I came here. I didn't want to earlier as I've felt very emotional today and didn't want to come here and cry again. Horses have a very special place in my heart.
Sometimes we need to do some really hard things, life doesn't always give us a choice. I could easily not have come here today but then I would have missed out on all these happy feelings that are now taking over.
I hope you get some joy too from looking at these guys. Truly outstanding.

We managed to get out with the paddleboard and kayak yesterday. What a brilliant day it was! 2.5 hours on the board for me and kayak for Helen.

I was practicing my strokes and got really in to it. I put so much effort in that my legs pushed the board way in front of me and I fell backwards into the loch. Brilliant!!!! Glad I had a wetsuit 😁

The forecast was bleak to say the least, but we headed off anyway. It ended up being a beautiful afternoon with lots of sun. Oh and one of us turned somewhat pink too.

So don't trust the weather forecast, bring everything you need including drinks and lots of snacks then head off! Go on that mini adventure, don't let anything stop you. One of the best moments was when I was laying flat the board, looking up at the sun and clouds and hills. The only sound was the waves hitting the board lightly. Now that is one of the best things I can do to stop, relax and enjoy the moment then get on with the day. It does not get much better. The mind is reset, relaxed and calm. Calm brain, happy spud(s). Find your place. Do it. Take care of yourself.

Yesterday's adventure took us to Glasgow Botanic Gardens with one of our best friends. Fabulous day, again a lot of photos of green things and flowers. There's even a rare one of me this time! Oh and the mandatory ice cream.
This fills me with such peace and happiness. I came away fully recharged and ready to go.

I urge you to find your happy place and spend time there. Take time out, enjoy the moment, nothing else matters.

A little one has fallen from the nest and Mum is feeding it in situ. We are making sure next doors cat doesn't get it too.

It was one of them days today. It started with me oversleeping, something I hardly ever do, and the day continued much the same. Work was really busy and non-stop. So much so that I again resorted to having my lunch in the van going from one job to the next instead of having a proper break. I feel that I coped well though, all things considered.
Being outdoors in Scotland this time of year can be challenging. It is the only country I know where you get all seasons in one day. What kept me going today was the fact that I was wearing my shorts whilst working outdoors in the sunshine. Little things go such a long way with me, I didn’t even pay much attention to the rain showers.
When I was driving home after work I realised that I still felt stressed and also frustrated as I did not have time to complete all my jobs today. I stress about running late on a job as I feel the pressure to complete it all, and this has an impact on my strategic thinking and I make mistakes. This all takes time, which there is never enough of in a working day. To help me wind down after days like these, one of my special places to go to is my garden. It’s only little and almost square with a lot of slabs in it and only a little bit of grass. However, it does have a little greenhouse where I am growing various flowers and vegetables. I knew we had “chores” to do this evening, but I felt that I had to take some time out, take some time for me. I still have to take care of myself and I work everyday at not going back to the bad place where I was at before. So, me-time in the garden is so very important. I believe we all have them: the things we love to do that we don’t always get time to do. There always seems to be more chores and more important things to do. But if you strip away all the fun things and don’t take time for you, sooner or later you will break. Here are a few photos from one of my happy places. What's your happy place?

Back in London for the first time since moving away last year. We went to my favourite place Camden Market, then walked along the canal to Little Venice. It wasn't until we got there that I realised that I was very apprehensive about going back. I realised I now associate London with a lot of bad experiences, especially towards the end, which really unsettled me. I was overwhelmed by a range of emotions I did not expect. The second day I felt a lot better and was pleased to be going back to Scotland.
The thing is, stuff happens out of the blue and you just gotta deal with it, unexpected or not. That's where I feel I'm really struggling at the moment, I have very little resilience to deal with stuff that go wrong. I never used to feel this way and it's a clear sign I still have a way to go. But I'm getting there 🙏

This makes me happy. A great day out with Scotland at it's finest.
I take a lot of photos when I go walking, and today was so beautiful. It makes me happy and glad to be alive. What makes it even better is that I'm getting all these nice feelings from doing stuff like this, and that I want to do them. The journey to find myself again continues. This is me before depression and anxiety which I'm learning to live with.
